The Hurricane Maria Assistance Relief & Institutional Alliance, Inc. (HMARIA, Inc.), is a 501c3, not-for-profit corporation formed for the charitable purpose of aiding persons who are victims of natural disasters in Puerto Rico or elsewhere in the Caribbean. HMARIA, Inc., has been working to support the survivors of Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma. HMARIA, Inc., is incorporated in New York state and its sister not-for-profit HMARIA, Corp., is incorporated in Puerto Rico.
The HERO project team works together with Iniciativa Comunitaria, a non-profit organization in Puerto Rico with 27 years of experience in providing health, education, and domestic violence prevention services to people with limited resources and limited access to the government health system. In addition, with the money raised from fundraising, the HERO-PR team will hire local health care professionals in Puerto Rico and collaborate with mental health brigades from across the United States to support other partner teams in Puerto Rico.
