Support Domestic Violence Shelters in Puerto Rico The Domestic Violence in Puerto Rico (DVPR) project works with domestic violence shelter leaders in Puerto Rico to document the data on the status of domestic violence shelters in Puerto Rico. The data collected post hurricane Maria was published in an effort to raise awareness and financial support for domestic violence shelters in Puerto Rico. The shelters house domestic violence survivors with the provision of temporary stays and referral to transitional housing. Puerto Rico's domestic violence shelters have diminished. The remaining domestic violence shelters are listed below and need financial support. 100% of the tax deductible donations collected through this page will go to them. |

The Domestic Violence in Puerto Rico (DVPR) Project gathered primary data concerning domestic violence in Puerto Rico on a globally accessible platform. The goal of this project is to raise awareness of the needs shelters endure and raise funding to support local domestic violence shelters in Puerto Rico. Post - COVID-19COVID-19 virus is a respiratory illness that has been deemed a pandemic by the World Health Organization. As preventive measures, countries have been forced to participate in various degrees of quarantine and the practice of social distancing. As a result, there is an unprecedented global escalation of gender-based violence. In the case of Puerto Rico, it COVID-19 has exacerbated the already existing gender-based violence crisis the island archipelago has been experiencing. Our volunteers have been able to connect organizations with essential PPE material to domestic violence shelters in need of PPE equipment. MediaThe Domestic Violence in Puerto Rico (DVPR) project data on domestic violence was presented at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women 63 in 2019 to raise global awareness of the gender based crisis in Puerto Rico and other parts of the world. The domestic violence shelters leaders in Puerto Rico house domestic violence victims with the provision of temporary stays and referral to transitional housing. Volunteers, Research Assistants, and Project Supervisors work tirelessly with the directors to ensure their this issue is discussed globally.
