Post - Hurricane Irma & MariaAfter Hurricanes Irma & Maria in 2017, the number of reported domestic violence cases did not reflect a decrease in the number of gender-based crimes committed. Our volunteers gathered data from domestic violence shelter directors at the time and shared it on a globally accessible virtual platform to raise awareness of gender-based violence post hurricanes. Our volunteers also worked to raise support for domestic violence shelters by connecting them to a variety of organizations and institutions across the globe. In conjunction with Iniciativa Comunitaria, our volunteers worked to support medical and mental health brigades in a variety of ways. See more about this ongoing project by clicking here.

Post - EarthquakeAfter the first earthquake that ravished southern Puerto Rico in December 2019, our volunteers worked in conjunction with Iniciativa Comunitaria to continue our support of medical and mental health brigades in Puerto Rico. Working to aid the displaced persons both in Puerto Rico and those that fled to the New York area, volunteers created the Humanitarian Earthquake Relief Operation which works to connect resources from across the world with local organizations in Puerto Rico for displaced and affected persons. We continue to support ongoing brigades given the earthquakes are recurrent, and we continue to work to raise funds and other types of support to sponsor this cause. See more by clicking here.
